DST - Gaming News : 4gb vs 2gb vista gaiming

DST - Gaming News
Inspired by the Corsair Performance Analysis of 4GB versus 2GB of memory, we figured it would be fun to see for ourselves how gaming performance is impacted by adding more system memory. We got our hands on a 2GB and a 4GB set of Corsair DOMINATOR PC2-9136C5 memory modules and set off to see what happens to the average framerate in nine games at 1920x1200 on one of the fastest gaming systems that one can build.

Interesting that the difference isn't really a lot more thought it would of been but suppose every frame counts even the smallest rise.

According to Johansson (a former program manager for security policy at Microsoft), there appears to be two separate issues. One affects only AMD-equipped PCs sold by Hewlett-Packard Co. "The problem is that HP, apparently along with other OEMs, deploys the same image to Intel-based computers that they do to AMD-based computers," said Johansson. "Because the image for both Intel and AMD is the same, all have the intelppm.sys driver installed and running. That driver provides power management on Intel-based computers. On an AMD-based computer, amdk8.sys provides the same functionality." Running the intelppm.sys driver on an AMD-powered PC isn't normally an issue, but on the first reboot after a service pack installation, it causes "a big problem," Johansson said. The machine either fails to boot or crashes and immediately reboots.

The other problem, according to Johansson, also seems to affect only AMD machines, and involves an error message indicating trouble with the PC's BIOS. Johansson said that the ensuing recommendation to update the BIOS is "most likely not your problem," but said that the problem may be isolated to a specific motherboard. "Possibly, it is related to computers with the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard in them," he said.

Johansson also spelled out workarounds for both problems on his blog. The HP issue can be solved by disabling the intelppm.sys driver, while the second fix requires the user to plug in a USB flash drive before booting.

DST - Gaming News : Bio Shock Coming to a Screen near you and Uwe Boll at it again!

DST - Gaming News

I'm going to start adding some news from games stuff that I find interesting to the site seen as though ive got free time on my hands now and again here goes with my first.

Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean director) has been snagged to direct the movie adaptation of Bioshock.

"Bioshock" publisher Take-Two Interactive is getting a multimillion-dollar advance against gross points on the pic. It's believed to be the biggest videogame-to-movie deal since 2005, when U and Fox signed onto the since aborted "Halo" pic, for which Microsoft got $5 million against 10% im quite looking forward to a bioshock movie myself.

The other movie news I heard was that Uwe Boll wanted to make a world of warcraft movie but blizzard snubbed him I wonder why that is? Probably because he is the worst director ever for making game movies I mean have you seen them 7 in total! Postal, bloodrayne, alone in the dark as well his latest far cry which isnt out yet but if his other flicks are anything to go by im not looking forward to it in the slightest.

DST - Operation Flashpoint 2 : Operation flashpoint 2 update

DST - Operation Flashpoint 2

Ive been trying to dig up some news off other sites for Operation Flashpoint 2 theres not much just one trailer and a few screens. Im hoping it will be the true sucessor to the orignal. What I can tell you is that it uses an EGO™ engine which is apperantly next gen, it sure looks it.

The engine has been worked on for 3 years Take a look at these screens looks very good. There's not really a certain release date but it was planned for the end of this year but more realistically I would be looking towards next year for it. Hopefully they will bring some more details out soon on it to wet our appetite.Only trailer I could find was this
